What this website does not collect

This is a static website: it consists of finished files that your browser downloads. There is no sign-up, no user area, no contact form and no newsletter subscription. You can pick a time for an intro call through a booking calendar provided by Cal.com; what happens there is described under “Booking an appointment via Cal.com”.

It stores no information on your device and accesses no information already stored there — no cookies, no local storage, no session storage. Consent under § 25 (1) TDDDG is therefore not required, and you will not see a consent banner here.

There are likewise no analytics or tracking services, ad networks, social media plugins, maps or embedded videos. Fonts and our own scripts are served from the same server as the page itself. The Cal.com booking calendar on the homepage is the only content loaded from another server — and so the only point at which your IP address reaches another provider. Embedded third-party content discloses visitors' IP addresses to whoever operates that server; that is why we limit ourselves to this one.

Visiting the site: server log files

When your browser requests this website, it transmits technically necessary information to the server hosting it. This includes in particular:

• the IP address of your device or internet connection
• the date and time of the request
• the address requested and the status of the response
• the volume of data transferred
• the page visited before (referrer), where your browser sends it
• browser, version and operating system details (user agent)

A page cannot technically be delivered without this information. The hosting provider records it in server log files.

This data is not analysed in order to identify individual visitors, and it is not combined with any other source of data.

Hosting and processing on our behalf

This website does not run on our own servers but at a service provider: Netlify, Inc., 101 2nd Street, San Francisco, CA 94105, USA.

Such a provider acts as a processor. It may process the data described above only for us and on our instructions, on the basis of a data processing agreement under Art. 28 GDPR that binds it, among other things, to confidentiality and to appropriate technical and organisational measures.

Netlify, Inc. is based in the USA. Visiting this website therefore transfers personal data — in particular your IP address and the server log file details listed above — to a country outside the European Union.

The basis for that transfer under Art. 44 et seq. GDPR is Netlify, Inc.'s certification under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, for which the European Commission adopted an adequacy decision under Art. 45 GDPR on 10 July 2023. In addition, Netlify has committed to the European Commission's standard contractual clauses under Art. 46 GDPR (Implementing Decision 2021/914). The current status of the certification can be checked at dataprivacyframework.gov.

If you write to us, we process your e-mail address, your name and whatever else you tell us — solely in order to answer your message.

Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR where the matter concerns a contract or steps prior to one; otherwise Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR, our legitimate interest being to answer enquiries addressed to us.

Retention

until your enquiry has been dealt with. We then delete the correspondence unless statutory retention periods apply; for the duration of those periods it is kept and used for nothing else.

Without additional encryption, e-mail is not a confidential channel. Please check with us before sending particularly sensitive information this way.

Booking an appointment via Cal.com

The homepage embeds a booking calendar provided by Cal.com; the “Request an intro call” button opens the same calendar in a window over the page. The provider is Cal.com, Inc., a company based in the USA.

The calendar is loaded from Cal.com's servers when the homepage is opened. Cal.com thereby receives your IP address and the technical details your browser sends with every request (see “server log files”). Whether Cal.com stores information on your device inside the calendar depends on the service and its privacy policy atcal.com/privacy.

If you book an appointment, Cal.com processes the details from the booking form — usually your name, e-mail address, the chosen time and an optional message — and passes them on to us. We use them solely to prepare and hold the call and, where necessary, to reschedule or cancel it.

Legal basis

For loading the calendar, Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR, our legitimate interest being to let you pick a time directly on the page without an exchange of e-mails. For the booking itself, Art. 6 (1) (b) GDPR, as the appointment is a step prior to a contract.

Transfer to a third country

Basis for the transfer to Cal.com, Inc. under Art. 44 et seq. GDPR — per Cal.com's own statement, standard contractual clauses under Art. 46 GDPR; no certification under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework could be substantiated — together with the data processing agreement under Art. 28 GDPR that puts them into force

Your rights

Where we process personal data about you, you have the following rights against us:

• access to confirmation of whether, and which, data we process about you (Art. 15 GDPR)
• rectification of inaccurate and completion of incomplete data (Art. 16 GDPR)
• erasure of your data (Art. 17 GDPR)
• restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR)
• receipt of the data you provided to us in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format, and its transmission to another controller (Art. 20 GDPR)
• objection to certain processing (Art. 21 GDPR, see the next section)

An informal message to the address above is enough. Exercising these rights is normally free of charge for you.

Right to object

Where we process personal data on the basis of legitimate interests under Art. 6 (1) (f) GDPR — on this website that means server log files, answering enquiries outside steps prior to a contract, and loading the Cal.com calendar — you have the right to object to that processing at any time, on grounds relating to your particular situation.

If you object, we will stop processing the data concerned. The only exception is where we can demonstrate compelling legitimate grounds for the processing which override your interests, rights and freedoms, or where the processing serves to establish, exercise or defend legal claims.

We do not use your data for direct marketing. If we did, you could object at any time and without giving reasons, after which we would no longer process your data for that purpose (Art. 21 (2) and (3) GDPR).

An informal message to stephantechnik@gmail.com is enough to object.

Complaint to a supervisory authority

Without prejudice to any other remedy, you may lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority if you consider that the processing of your data infringes the GDPR (Art. 77 GDPR). The competent authority is in particular one in the EU Member State of your residence, your place of work or the place of the alleged infringement.
